The City of Logan is the county seat of Hocking County, Ohio. Logan takes its name from the Indian Chief Logan of the Mingo Tribe, an Indian tribe that once inhabited the area. Logan, Ohio provides a sought after balance of both small town charm and big city convenience.
The Hocking Hills State Park is the area's major attraction and the second most popular travel and tourism destination in Ohio for visitors of all ages. The state park features the natural areas of Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, Cantwell Cliffs, Lake Logan and Rock House, featuring waterfalls, craggy caves and dense forests unlike any other in Ohio. Park officials estimate that slightly more than 3 million people visited the parks in 2011.
The Hocking Hills is the Canopy Tour Capital of the Midwest. More than 50 ziplines provide a bird's eye view of breathtaking landscape as you fly from tree top to tree top. Take a traditional canopy tour along 5 to 11 ziplines through the tree canopy over caves and waterfalls. The vibrant Ohio Wine industry has come to the Hocking Hills. Three wineries are now in operation offering visitors wine tastings, vineyard tours and locally sourced foods to accompany the vino.
With the park areas as the marquee attraction of Hocking Hills, small business entrepreneurs have created many complimentary experiences for travelers including shops, lodging establishments, attractions, restaurants, activities, galleries and more. There are dozens of shops and dining locations in the area; and over 130 businesses that offer activities, event planning services and more. Hocking Hills is truly a hub for Ohio travel and tourism!
